The Grow Grenfell Group has started installing four exterior commercial-grade lights at the Catholic Church in Grenfell

The Grow Grenfell Group's work on lighting up Grenfell reached another milestone on Friday 1 May 2026 with the commencement of work on installing exterior lighting on the historic St Joseph's Catholic Church.
Local electrician Grame Edwards was on-site early on the Friday morning to start trenching work at the front of the Church and was assisted by Grow Grenfell Group members Alan Griffiths, Michael Halls and JEff Gallimore.

Four commercial-grade lights are being placed across the front of the Church and are the same type of lighting equipment as those shining on the artwork at the Grenfell Silos. Once fully installed the four lights will operate on a computerised program from sunset to 9:35pm every night of the year with soft slow-changing colours to compliment the historic architectural features of the church.

The lights at St Joseph's Catholic Church will be an important addition to the GRENFELL LIGHTS project and made possible through the ongoing fundraising efforts of the Grow Grenfell Group and a financial donation from the Grenfell Lions Club in 2025.

Our thanks go out to the owners of Stevens Sand & Gravel and Makecrete Concrete Services for their generosity in providing materials for the installation of the lights at no cost to the Grow Grenfell Group.
