Council announces expected $2.2M operating deficit for 2026-2027
Weddin Shire Council announced an expected $2.3m operating deficit at council's May monthly Meeting. The budget for continuing operations forecasts total income of $20.318 million and total expenses of $30.419
Council has anticipated a Net Operating Result deficit from continuing operations of $10.101 million.
Excluding depreciation of $7.85 million Weddin Shire Council is budgeting for a $2.251 million operating deficit over the next 12 months.
As a result of this financial shortfall Weddin Shire Council is placing sizable increases on its charges for the next 12 months that include:
All sewer Rates and Charges have increased by 10%
Some Construction Certificates have had their fees increased to recover costs of providing the service:
▪ Minor Structures – Fence ($110 to $250)
▪ Modified CC Application (minor) Class 1 & 10 ($100 to $250)
▪ Modified CC Application (minor) Class 2-9 ($150 to $250)
The “Tree Removal Application” fee has increased from $36.50 to $60 recover the costs of providing the service
